Golf

Glenfir is very fortunate to be able to offer students in grades four through twelve the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf from Tyrel Babkirk, through their term one special activity. Students in grades four through six receive instruction two blocks twice per week and grades seven through twelve for two blocks three times per week.

Tyrel Babkirk is the Director of Golf / Head Professional for the Summerland Golf and Country Club. He has been a golf professional for 11 years and has worked at the Summerland Golf Club for three years prior to his new appointment to handle the clubs golf operations.

Mr. Babkirk has been very active in his 11 years in the industry working with juniors to help develop not only their golfing abilities but also better preparing them for our fast paced society.  Golf is a game full of traditions, which consist of etiquette and behaviors that need to be adhered to when at the golf course and he feels that these rules are as equally important to learn as the swing itself.

The Golf Program will consist of learning the fundamentals of the golf swing, which includes - the full swing, chipping, putting, sand play, and golf course etiquette. These fundamentals will be taught in a fun filled environment and will have the student prepared to take on any golf course with confidence and the ability to enjoy this great game.

The Summerland Golf and Country Club has constructed a new state of the art practice facility, which will provide an excellent stage for students to learn and continue to visit to hone their skills. The addition of this facility allows us to keep our golf instruction in Summerland for better convenience to the students and better maximize the time allotted to the instruction.

Mr. Babkirk is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the students of Glenfir to provide them with the knowledge and skill set required to enjoy this wonderful sport we call golf.
